Our birthday comes once a year, so to celebrate it we have parties, invite our friends, and have fun with them. Each year brings a lot of happiness to us. The time will come when we all cross the age of 50. But the 50th is the one we celebrate as the happiest moment—the one known as the golden birthday year. We aren't locked indoors anymore, and the virtual era wasn’t bad. When we were able to provide virtual birthday comedy shows during the shutdown, it became clear that we were onto something. The way people responded and the reviews showed that the comedy club could come to you, even if you’re not living near one. Living Room Laughs has brought the fun of private comedy shows to everywhere in the greater tri-state area of New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, as well as Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.

Whether someone is turning the big five-oh, celebrating a half-century, or feeling 50 and fabulous, they deserve a big birthday bash. No matter how you say it, 50 is a big deal. We can only think of one more significant milestone birthday — and you’ll have to wait for another half-century to get there!

Did someone say food?

For a foodie’s 50th, throw a tasting party. Many foods and drinks — wine, chocolate, whiskey, honey, cheese, olive oil — have different tastes depending on the varietal, region, and flavor profile. Choose your guest of honor’s favorite foods with a customized live comedy show.

Host a THEME party

A birthday party theme can make it easy to plan a cohesive event. Just think of something your guest of honor loves — sports, movies, grape soda, anything that can be a theme — then everything from your big FIVE Oh party decorations to your party games to your cupcake toppers will fall into place. Best of all, a live birthday comedy show is the best source of entertainment to keep you laughing your ass off, you party animal!

Host a Roast

Host a comedy roast if your guest of honor has a great sense of humor. We have REAL NYC comedians that can get down and dirty (or keep it clean) and bring down the house. Please note that generally comedians do their acts but can poke a little fun at the honoree; it’s up to you to decide. Make it even more off the wall by asking friends and family to write hilarious speeches for some additional thrills.  But if you dish it out, make sure you can take it — it’s traditional for the guest of honor to get the last word at a roast with a speech that makes fun of everyone who roasted them.

Vintage Game Night

Encourage a bit of healthy competition with a fun game night. It’s the perfect excuse to break out your favorite board games. Some of our favorites include Battleship, Guess Who, Clue, Monopoly, or Life, and add a comedian host to your big night. They will have your guest roaring with laughter and setting the tone for the entire evening.

 Make It a Surprise Party

It’s fun to surprise a birthday girl or boy with all their loved ones and favorite things. To avoid being found out, throw your surprise party a week or two before the actual birthday. You don’t have to go out, and you can get a stand-up show dedicated to the honoree! Just let everyone but the birthday boy or girl know there will be comedy! Allowing you and your guests to kick back at home, enjoy the show from home, and give the best gift you could give to your home-dweller!

The best 50th birthday party ideas reflect the birthday boy or girl you’re celebrating.  At the end of the day, if you invite the guest of honor’s favorite people, you’ll have a milestone birthday they’ll remember.
